Organisation structure

Sole shareholder of Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH is the city of Dortmund. The duties of the company are discharged by four subsidiaries.

Depending on the size of the respective event the Westfalenhallen Congress Centre is operated jointly by the allied companies KHC GmbH and Veranstaltungszentrum Westfalenhallen GmbH.

All allied companies are responsible for the operative management of the business areas assigned to them in the name of and for the account of the Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH. The Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH is, as parent company, responsible for central tasks and, inter alia, makes available all services in the areas of technology, administration and communication.


Shareholdings in outside companies

  • The company has a stake of 18.2 percent of the share capital of 25,564.59 euros in Ticket Pool GmbH from Düsseldorf. Purpose of the business is co-operation with suppliers and sellers of tickets with the object of marketing tickets with the joint use of a common electronic ticket reservation system.
  • The share capital contribution in the Ruhrgebiet Tourismus GmbH is 17,895.22 euros which equates to 7 percent. Essential tasking of this company is the development of an autonomous regional touristic profile. Here the focus of tasks consists of the regional packaging, planning, networking and marketing of touristic offers as well as the initiating of inter-regionally significant events. The company was founded in Dortmund on the initiative of the federal state government of Nordrhein-Westfalen.
  • In the year reported on, the enterprise-association company Olympiastützpunkt Westfalen GmbH acquired a share in the Olympiastützpunkte Deutschland GmbH amounting to 1,250 euros (= 5 per cent of the ordinary share capital). This company is responsible for the national marketing of the participating Olympic Support Centres. Its aim is to raise the centres’ profile and generate higher revenues from sponsoring, the issuing of licences and presentations in the new media in order, among other things, to relieve some of the burden from the public-funding providers. Regional marketing remains the responsibility of the individual Olympic Support Centres or their supporting bodies.
  • The share in the "Konzerthaus Dortmund GmbH" amounts to 0.12 % of the nominal capital of over 10.2 millions. The majority shareholder is the city of Dortmund. The aim of the company is to vitalise and extend the cultural topography in Dortmund by constructing and running the "Konzerthaus" which opened for business in September 2002.
