Westfalenhallen Congress Centre

The hall complex at the Dortmund Rheinlanddamm can look to the future with optimism. It is not long since the Westfalenhallen Congress Centre was extended and extensively modernized. The Westfalenhalle 1, the "flagship" of the Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH, has been provided with a new representative entrance area. This attractive linking element guides the participants of large-scale congresses through to the main body of the hall. September 2001 also marked the completion of the general renovation of all of the function and guest rooms in the Westfalenhallen Parkhotel. The Westfalenhallen enterprise association has therefore created the conditions for sustainable long-term expansion of the conference and congress business.

Wide variety of rooms on offer

Recently modernized at considerable expense, the Westfalenhallen Congress Centre is the largest conference complex in Westphalia. The complex not only includes the imposing Westfalenhalle 1 for large-scale congresses but also numerous rooms that provide a pleasant setting for small groups to meet or celebrate. The diverse offering meets practically any requirements organizers may have.

The Dortmund Westfalenhallen, which in 2000 celebrated the 75th anniversary of their foundation, can call upon a wealth of experience and competence with regard to the conference business. Business history has been written in their halls. As from 1958 the Westfalenhalle 2 was the venue for the general meetings of the Hoesch AG – including the turbulent, last general meeting of the company in 1992. Several times a year the flags of the Adam Opel AG are seen flapping in the wind, and the SIGNAL-IDUNA insurance group has decided in favour of the Westfalenhalle 2 – only a stone’s throw from the company headquarters - as the venue for its employee meetings.

Politicians such as Willy Brandt, Franz-Josef Strauß and Konrad Adenauer came to the Rheinlanddamm to fight for their beliefs at big political rallies. It was in the Goldsaal, one of the most tradition-steeped rooms in the Westfalenhallen Congress Centre, that the DFB (German Football Association) took the decision to found the German football league.

All the time that important decisions were being taken in the room, behind the scenes operations ran with clockwork precision. The quality of service has been continuously optimized over the years. At present, the Westfalenhallen Congress Centre reliably caters for the needs of participants at approx. 2000 events per year.

Clients can receive the entire service package (advice, conception, technically perfect realization) from a single provider. And the Congress Centre provides the complete range of conference services – accommodation, catering, the conference itself – under one roof. If the capacity of the Westfalenhallen Parkhotel should prove insufficient, visitors have the choice of five other hotels in the vicinity that are within easy walking distance.
