Our consumer behaviour and lifestyle mean we have an influence on the social and ecological manufacturing conditions of many products. This is what many consumers in Germany and across Europe are beginning to understand. 

Fair trade is gaining ground: the traditional fair trade products like coffee, tea and chocolate are holding their ground on the market and many new ones e.g. clothes, flowers, cosmetics, and wood have arrived in the last few years. Despite the economic crisis, the market share of fair trade products is growing rapidly.

This positive development is particularly beneficial for the producers in the so-called developing countries. By now approx. 1.6 million small farmers and agricultural labourers in 58 countries are benefitting from fair trade. They receive a reasonable wage for their work and can invest in their future.
