Planning has begun in earnest for the 32nd Inter-tabac show, due to take place in the Westfalenhallen Dortmund exhibition center from 17 to 19 September 2010. And already, this show - the largest specialist tobacco show in the world - is showing a positive trend. At the present moment, more exhibitors have registered and more floor area has been rented than at this time last year. And the show is also developing its international business: up to now, 233 companies (2009: 253) from 33 countries (2009: 29) have registered for Inter-tabac. The proportion of exhibitors from outside Germany is currently 41.6 per cent.
Starting from 78 exhibitors initially, Inter-tabac has developed steadily over the last three decades and in 2009 the show achieved the best result in its history as regards exhibitors, visitors and international business. "It is certainly too early to give a certain prognosis, but measuring against the development of Inter-tabac to date, we are confident that we will also achieve a good result in 2010", says Angelika Bauer, Divisional Head at Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH.
As the largest specialist show for tobacco products and smoking accessories in the world today, Inter-tabac presents both market leaders and medium-sized and small manufacturers as well as importers from all over the world. Besides many well-known exhibitors, in 2010 there will once again be some companies at Inter-tabac who did not exhibit in the previous year. These will now further augment the portfolio of exhibits. This year "JT International" has registered alongside "Philip Morris", "BAT" and "Reemtsma", which means that the German cigarette market leaders are all represented. And there are some new faces in the area of tobacco products, for example first-time exhibitors such as the Import & Export Tobacco Corporation "Tabacos de Centroamérica", "Wilsons & Co", a snuff manufacturer established in 1737 in Sheffield, along with "Vegas Santiago SA" with hand-rolled cigars from Costa Rica. The pipe sector is represented by the Danish manufacturer "Kai Nielsen Pipen" and smokers' accessories by "Swift - Lite Charcoal International", the leading European manufacturer of charcoal tablets for water pipes.
As in previous years, Inter-tabac, with its multitude of interesting exhibitors, will take place this year in three exhibition halls with a gross floor space of more than 20,000 square metres. Halls 4 and 7 will be used, and, because of the remarkable increase in exhibitors since 2007, also Hall 8.
