- Croatian Republic this year’s Partner Country
- The public’s favourites: Stag calling and off-road vehicle track
The JAGD & HUND 2010 is developing steadily at the level of last year’s event. International interest is already at the same high level. From 2nd to 7th February Europe’s leading exhibition for hunting and angler fishing will once again be attracting more than 70,000 visitors from at home and abroad to the Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund. A huge range on offer from well over 600 non-commercial and commercial exhibitors as well as a multifarious entertainment programme awaits hunters, anglers and nature-lovers. Programme items such as the German stag calling championship and the off-road vehicle track are among the big crowd-pullers. And Croatia as the partner country in 2010 will be presenting exclusive travel offers.
The JAGD & HUND is extremely popular abroad, both with regard to exhibitors and visitors. Over 30 percent of the exhibitors and around 13 percent of the visitors travelled from abroad this year. The exhibition also offers Europe’s most comprehensive selection of international hunting holidays. In 2010 it will be the Croatian Republic which will be presenting itself as part of the partner country programme. At the JAGD & HUND this partner country will be demonstrating numerous possibilities for hunting and fishing in the Croatian hunting grounds and waters and numerous products from its domestic economy. Visitors will be given valuable advice from competent representatives and be able to book hunting and angling holidays there and then at the exhibition – for example a hunting holiday on the Adriatic coast which can well be combined with a family holiday.
For over ten years the German stag calling championship has been the attraction at the JAGD & HUND. On Friday, 5th February 2010 Germany’s best stag callers will once again be demonstrating who is the best in this royal discipline. The participants must master three disciplines in the competition: one young stag seeking, one responding and one performing the calling duel of two stags. The contender able to call himself “German champion” will be determined by an experienced jury: the hoofed game expert Dr. Kurt Menzel, the wild game expert and author Konrad Esterl and the chairman of the German Federation of Occupational Hunters Bernd Bahr. Stag caller enthusiasts wanting to submit a registration for the “German championship” must do so by 15th January 2010.
The off-road vehicle track in hall 3B has developed into a true crowd-puller. At the JAGD & HUND 2009 altogether 2,400 visitors tested the new off-road models, driving over obstacles such as hunting lodges or giant, four metre seesaws. Added to this are a host of interesting programme items including birds of prey demonstrations, hunting hound parades, hunting horn blowers and presentations by well-renowned casters and fly-fishers. Over and beyond this numerous companies from various fields will be presenting their products and services in hall 3B.
Altogether the range of information and entertainment on offer will be of the usual wide-reaching standard –starting with wild game cookery, fashion shows and the showing of nature documentaries through to rod-building, fly-fishing and specialist lectures on fishing.
Angling enthusiasts will find everything an angler’s heart desires in hall 5: a forum on the topical subject of sea-angling, comprehensive information on fishing waters and types of fish, numerous angling, fishing and baiting techniques, interesting lectures and of course a great offer covering all sorts of angling accessories.
The range covered by the JAGD & HUND stretches from game care and conservation, to hunting gear, hunting establishments, hunting tourism, hunting vehicles and hunting lodges, fishing equipment, angling holidays and angling gear through to countryside protection and nature conservation.
