JAGD & HUND 2009: high international level
  • Off-road live shows in hall 3B extended
  • Event areas with lots of activities

The JAGD & HUND Trade Fair which will be taking place from 3rd to 8th of February 2009 in the Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund has already recorded a most satisfying level of bookings. The amount of stand space rented by the exhibitors has again increased and already at this point in time the international level of 2008 has been exceeded. Even at this early stage there are already companies representing altogether 28 countries (in 2008: 27). Hall 3B in the Westfalenhallen will certainly prove to be a real crowd-puller again in 2009 with an extensive programme of entertainment, events and activities.

The main features of attraction in hall 3B will be the off-road vehicle show which next year will be presented over an even greater area and with its own special life-like modules. The spectacular approaches and departures of individual modules with axle-articulations and bridges, etc., will again be performed by expert instructors. In addition, however, the visitors will also be given the opportunity to try driving on new modules themselves - accompanied by a professional - and so test the new off-road vehicle models to their heart’s content. Competent advisors will be there to give help and hints to the visitors and explain all the enhancements of the latest off-road vehicles from manufacturers such as Jeep, Lada, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Subaru, Volkswagen, to name but a few.

The event and activity area which has been designed using nature as its role model is not only of interest for hunting enthusiasts. Here a range of activities will be taking place – preparing for a duck-chase and the duck-chase itself on water, demonstrating how to build hunt stands and styles with the aid of power saws, demonstrating management of uncultivated fields, e.g. how to go about seeding beds, sowing, fertilizing and tending –  and many more things. There will also be tips and hints from professionals on successful pigeon and crow hunting. Safety and regard to accident prevention regulations play an important role here.

Additional entertainment will be provided by the bird of prey demonstration, the parades of hunting dogs, hunting horn blowers and presentations by great casting- and fly-fishers who will be offering the visitors helpful advice on casting- and fly-fishing and let them take the rod into their own hands. And the Nature Learning Corner which will be staged for the first time in hall 3B will help to bring over interesting information and fascinating facts about native flora and fauna to the younger visitors.

Over and beyond that, hall 3B has established itself as a location for commercial exhibitors. Next to the manufacturers of off-road vehicles, numerous companies from a host of differing fields will be presenting their products and services.

In the remaining halls too, there will be lots of exciting things to do and see, and fun and action waiting for JAGD & HUND visitors: Activities such as fly-tying, the art of baiting or making rods, the showing of nature films in the Trade Fair cinema, lectures on specialist fishing issues, fashion shows, presentations of hunting dog breeds, a ladder-building competition, the European deer-calling championships, cooking game and quill embroidery are on offer. A brand new item in the programme is “gamsbart-binding“. This traditional handicraft will be demonstrated live here by an experienced gamsbart binder.

All visitors to the JAGD & HUND 2009 can also take part in the great trade fair raffle, where attractive prizes await the winners.

The JAGD & HUND Trade Fair which already in 2008, on account of its record exhibitor and visitor figures, was able to consolidate further its top position in Europe, will present also in 2009 a huge hunting and fishing area, spread across six trade fair halls with a selection of over 600 exhibitors. The offer stretches from cultivating and care of game animals to hunting establishments and hunting tourism, hunting vehicles and hunting lodges, fishing and fishery, angling holidays and angling accessories through to protection of the countryside and nature conservation. Every year this Trade Fair attracts over 70,000 visitors to Dortmund from Germany and abroad.

The number one in Europe’s exhibitions for hunting and angling also provides the most extensive offer throughout Europe for international hunting holidays. And with the presentation of the Czech Republic as the partner country many more interesting travel offers yet again will be added.
