West German Mineral Days simultaneous with Antiques & Collectors‘ Market
  • Extraordinary exhibits from the world of agates
  • Special Exhibition “Fossils – Designs Engraved in Stone"

The visitors of this year’s West German Mineral Days, which will be conducted on November 28th and 29th, 2009, will benefit doubly this year. The international event for fans and collectors of minerals, fossils, precious gems and jewelry will take place at the same time as the Dortmund Antiques and Collectors‘ Market on the exhibition ground of the Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund this year. One ticket offers access to both trade fairs. “We believe that our offer will convince additional target groups to visit both trade fairs,“ states Stefan Baumann, Managing Director of the Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH. The central feature of this year’s West German Mineral Days will be extraordinary agates and fossils.

The Dortmund Antiques & Collectors‘ Market, which was launched in Dortmund in 1979, has developed into one of the leading German antique trade fairs. The trade fair features a wide range of goods, including antiques, rare collectors‘ items, jewellery and fine bone china. That range of items offered suitably complements the spectre of the West German Mineral Days.

This year’s special exhibitions shown at the trade fair will include exhibits from the world of agates and fossils. Large-sized design objects made of fossil material will be included in the Exhibition “Designs Engraved in Stone“. In addition to that the topic of “Wellness with the Aid of Stones” will be offered again due to the popularity that topic enjoyed at the previous year’s trade fair. Interesting lectures given by experts and free-of-charge testing of gems offered to adult visitors as well as special activities such as the preparation of fossils and gold-washing provided for young visitors will round off the programme.

Opening hours of the West German Mineral Days in Dortmund: Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm. Entrance fee: Euros 8 for adults, Euros 4 for children.
