Global economic stimulus programmes and infrastructure projects are currently leading to an upswing in the rail and transport business.
Within this context #rail2009 is becoming an internationally respected forum for dialogue. The current congress programme marks out leading industry players and decision makers as speakers. Dr. Rüdiger Grube, DB chief executive, will be taking part, as will Wladimir Jakunin, the chief executive of the Russian national railway. Amongst other prominent guests are EU Commissioner Antonio Tajani and Dr. Dieter-Lebrecht Koch, the Vice Chairman of the Transport Committee of the European Parliament.
Lobbyists from international industry organisations, such as Dr. Johannes Ludewig from the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies, will also be there. Company executives from international freight and passenger transport operators, industry experts from the Dutch Randstad and Rhein-Ruhr metropolitan areas as well as specialists from the vehicle industry will come to Dortmund. Leading representatives from business and politics, organisations and associations will be discussing pressing future issues and market opportunities on 9 to 11 November.
With a total of nine Congress Forums there will be a wide range of opportunities for dialogue. Some of the focal points will be:
